Document Classification: Public Statement of Corporate Intent, Binding Trust Commitments & Governance
1. How to Read This Document
This statement has three parts, and they do not carry the same weight.
- Part A — Mission & Vision describes what Alonstech is trying to build and why. It is aspirational. It is not part of any agreement, creates no obligation, and is not a representation on which anyone is entitled to rely.
- Part B — Trust Commitments is the small set of promises Alonstech is prepared to be held to. Part B alone is incorporated into the Master Terms of Service by its Section 17.4. Where Part B and the Terms differ, the Terms prevail.
- Part C — Governance Framework describes how the company is run and how these documents are maintained. It is a description of internal practice, offered for transparency. It is not contractual.
2. Part A — Genesis & Founding Purpose
A LiDAR survey is captured in hours and processed for days. The capture is the part that looks expensive — the aircraft, the crew, the scanner — but the processing is where the work sits: classifying ground from everything standing on it, thinning without losing the detail the client paid for, building a terrain model, pulling a corridor or a catenary out of a cloud of a billion returns, and packaging the result so that somebody who was not there can open it.
That processing is almost everywhere done on one workstation, by one person, in desktop software licensed per seat:
- The machine is the bottleneck, and the machine is idle most of the month. A firm sizes a workstation for its largest survey and then pays for that machine whether or not a survey arrives. When two arrive in the same week, the second one waits.
- The licence is per seat, and the seat is a person. Processing capacity cannot be added for a busy month and given back afterwards.
- What was actually done is not recorded. The parameters, the software version, the classification decisions and the checksums of the outputs live in somebody's memory and in a folder name. When a deliverable is questioned two years later, the firm re-derives what it can and hopes.
- Uncertain data residency. Where an operator uploads a high-accuracy Indian survey to a processing service whose location is not established, the organisation carrying the regulatory obligation cannot demonstrate compliance.
LAZweaver was created by Alons Advanced Technologies Private Limited as an independent, solo-founded product: the processing, as a service, metered by the work actually done, with a written record of what was run and what came out.
3. Part A — Our Vision & Mission
"To make high-quality LiDAR processing something a two-person survey firm can buy by the hour and a national contractor can run at scale — with an honest record of what was done, and the customer's data kept where the customer's law requires it."
Our Mission
- Capacity without capital. Processing that scales to the survey rather than to the workstation somebody bought two years ago.
- Pay for the work, not the seat. Metered by points processed, so a quiet month costs what a quiet month should.
- A record of what was done. Every run keeps its parameters, its events, its report and the checksum of every output, so a deliverable can be accounted for long after the person who produced it has moved on.
- Open outputs. Every artifact in a published open format — LAS, LAZ, COPC, OGC 3D Tiles — that another tool can read. A customer who leaves takes working files, not an export request.
- Data residency that can be demonstrated. India's high-accuracy point clouds processed and stored inside India.
- Honest commercials. Payment state governs additions; it never governs retention.
4. Part A — What We Intend to Build Next
Directions of travel, not commitments. Nothing in this section is a representation that any capability exists:
- A second cell in another region, for a customer whose law or contract requires residency outside India.
- Further intake formats beyond LAS, LAZ and COPC.
- Deeper review and sign-off workflow around a finished run.
5. Part B — Trust Commitments
The commitments in this Part are incorporated into the Master Terms of Service by its Section 17.4 and are contractually binding on Alonstech. They are deliberately few, and deliberately narrow.
B1. Payment state governs additions; it never governs retention.
- If a plan is downgraded or a subscription lapses, the Organisation keeps sign-in, complete read access and unrestricted download of every artifact it holds, for as long as that artifact's retention period runs.
- No automated sweep, dunning workflow, payment lapse, downgrade or commercial dispute causes customer data to be deleted, archived, watermarked, obfuscated or degraded.
- The one thing that does remove data is the plan retention period, and it is not a payment event. It is a number stated on the plan before purchase, it runs from the completion of a run, it is never shortened by a later downgrade, and the removal is a scheduled act preceded by notice naming what will go and on what day. Section 5.2 of the Terms of Service is the full statement.
B2. The record of a run survives the data it describes.
- Every run keeps its identity, its parameters, its status, its events, its report, the manifest of what it produced and the SHA-256 checksum of each artifact. That record is kept after the artifacts themselves are removed at the end of a retention period, and after a customer-initiated erasure of the data.
- A checksum of geometry identifies no person. Keeping the record is therefore not, and must not be read as, a refusal to erase data.
B3. Indian high-accuracy point clouds stay in India.
- All processing and storage takes place in AWS Mumbai (
ap-south-1). Point geometry, classified clouds and derived surfaces do not transit foreign proxy layers, overseas caches or non-Indian storage systems. - Edge services are confined to authoritative DNS and the sign-in challenge. No content delivery network stands in front of the application.
B4. We do not sell, mine, monetise or train on your data.
- We will never sell, mine, monetise or exploit your point clouds, your derived artifacts or your client lists, and we will never artificially constrain your ability to download your own deliverables.
- We do not use customer data to train, fine-tune or evaluate any machine-learning model, our own or anyone else's, and we do not permit a sub-processor to do so.
- We employ no behavioural advertising tracker, session-replay script, cross-site aggregator or third-party analytics service.
B5. We tell you what is not built.
- Where the Platform does not do something a reader might reasonably assume it does, we say so in the Terms of Service rather than leaving the assumption standing. The absence of malware scanning, the formats we refuse, the absence of any sharing route to another company, and the absence of a completion-time guarantee are all disclosed for that reason.
- Where a safeguard is a commitment rather than an accomplished fact — the restore-and-exit drill at Section 10.3 of the Terms is the present example — we say which it is.
B6. Notice before change.
- A material modification to the Terms of Service or the Privacy Policy is notified to Organisation Owners not fewer than thirty (30) days before it takes effect.
- A new sub-processor that will process personal data is published and notified on the same thirty-day basis, save where one must be replaced urgently to maintain security or availability.
- A published plan version is never altered. A price, a quota or a capability changes by publishing a new version, which takes effect on renewal or on an explicit plan change.
6. Part C — Governance Framework
This Part describes internal practice. It is offered for transparency and is not contractual.
C1. Who is accountable
Alonstech is a private limited company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, with its registered office in Kerala, India. LAZweaver is developed and operated by a small team. Accountability for these documents, for the Trust Commitments in Part B, and for the decisions recorded here rests with the company's director, who is also the Privacy Contact and Grievance Officer named in Section 15 of the Privacy Policy. We do not claim a governance apparatus larger than the company is.
C2. Review cadence
- The Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and this statement are reviewed at least once in every six (6) months, and on each occasion on which a shipped change alters what they describe.
- Each document carries a version identifier, shown with the document. The version in force when a customer accepts is recorded against that acceptance.
- Automated checks in our release process bind parts of these documents to the software they describe — presently the cookie inventory and the published grievance and support addresses — so that a change in one without the other stops a build rather than passing silently. Section 6 of `README.md` describes the gate and what it does not yet cover.
C3. Exceptions and escalation
- Where a capability is suspended, time-boxed or not built, the condition for its reinstatement is written down, and where a date is given the date is treated as a commitment.
- Where a claim in a published document is found to be untrue, the document is corrected in the same change as the finding, and the correction is recorded rather than made quietly.
- Where a security or privacy gap is identified that cannot be closed immediately, it is recorded, given an owner and a date, and disclosed in the relevant document if a reader would otherwise be misled.
- This suite is presently a draft, and every clause that cannot yet be stood behind is marked
[REVIEW]rather than softened into something that reads as settled. That is C3 applied to the documents themselves.
7. Part C — Regulatory Posture
Alons Advanced Technologies Private Limited operates LAZweaver in accordance with the Guidelines for Acquiring and Producing Geospatial Data and Geospatial Data Services Including Maps (Department of Science and Technology, 15 February 2021) and the National Geospatial Policy, 2022 (S.O. 6095(E), notified 28 December 2022, which does not supersede the 2021 Guidelines).
- Indian geospatial self-reliance. We support the liberalisation of the Indian geospatial sector and build indigenous technology so that Indian surveying and mapping enterprises can compete at global standards.
- The negative list of sensitive attributes. The Guidelines provide for a negative list of sensitive attributes that may not be shown or labelled on a map. Explanation 1 to paragraph 8(iii) states expressly that there will not be any negative list of prohibited areas. We cooperate with the attribute restriction as it stands and do not represent that a prohibition on areas exists.
- Domestic processing. We process and store geospatial data finer than the threshold value, pertaining to Indian territory, exclusively within an Indian data plane.
- Data protection. The SPDI Rules, 2011 are the presently operative statutory security framework and we comply with them. The substantive provisions of the DPDP Act, 2023 are not yet in force; we have implemented their scheme voluntarily ahead of commencement, as set out in Section 2.3 of the Privacy Policy.
- Selling outside India. We sell to businesses in other countries from an Indian cell, and we say so plainly rather than implying a local presence we do not have.
[REVIEW: the obligations that attach to processing a European or United Kingdom customer's personal data in India — a Data Processing Agreement, Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK Addendum — are not in place, and this statement should not be published while it is silent about that.]
